Exterior Painting at Fraser Avenue, Johnsonville — A Full Transformation

In partnership with JT Constructions/Concrete Limited.

A fresh coat of paint can do wonders for a home — but when it comes to exterior painting, the real difference between a job that lasts and one that fades within a couple of years comes down to preparation. At Tidy Pads, we recently completed a full exterior painting project at Fraser Avenue in Johnsonville, and we are proud to say this one was done properly, from the very first strip right through to the final top coat.

The Starting Point

The property at Fraser Avenue had seen better days. The exterior walls were showing their age — paint was peeling, the door frames were worn, and the soffits had lost their freshness. It was the kind of job that needed more than just a quick roll-over. Our team assessed the property and knew straightaway that the surface needed to be fully prepared before any new paint could go on.

Preparation Is Everything

We started by applying paint stripper to the affected areas, removing the old, failing paint right back to the bare surface. This is a step that many painters skip — but at Tidy Pads, we never cut corners on preparation. Once the old paint was stripped, we sanded every surface thoroughly — walls, door frames, and soffits — to create a smooth, clean base ready to accept the new coats.

Good exterior painting is built on good prep work. No amount of premium paint will compensate for a poorly prepared surface, and our clients deserve a result that will hold up against Wellington's wind, rain, and UV exposure for years to come.

Undercoat, Then Two Top Coats

With the surfaces prepped and sanded, we applied a full undercoat across all exterior walls, door frames, and soffits. The undercoat is the unsung hero of any quality paint job — it seals the surface, improves adhesion, and ensures the top coats go on evenly and bond properly.

Once the undercoat had cured, we applied two full coats of top coat, working methodically across the entire exterior. Two coats are essential for a rich, even finish and for ensuring the paint film is thick enough to provide lasting protection against the elements. The result was a clean, vibrant exterior that looked completely transformed.

The Finished Result

The home at Fraser Avenue now looks outstanding. The walls are crisp and even, the door frames are sharp, and the soffits are clean and bright. It is the kind of transformation that makes a real difference to a home's kerb appeal — and to the pride a homeowner feels every time they pull into the driveway.
